The Mental Side of Athletics: An Expert Opinion (BSAAC Mental Health Week Special)
Saturday Apr 16, 2022
Saturday Apr 16, 2022
Hi all,
Today comes as the finale of my partnership with the Bowdoin Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as part of the NESCAC’s 2022 Mental Health Week.
Wanting to branch away from more on-campus matters, I sought to discuss the overall relationship between the mental and physical sides of athletics, and why paying attention to it is for the best of all involved in the world of sports. For this, I brought in the sports psychologist that my high school football team worked with to help turn our program around (so yeah I had to pull out the old high school football pic for the episode cover). His name is Dr. Kevin Alschuler from the University of Washington, and you might recognize his name from episode 4 of this show.
Through his perspective, I hope that teams can work on being proactive in improving their communication and support, as to avoid any of those blow ups that can crumble a team’s collective identity.
Thank you so much to the BSAAC for including me in this week it was a blast and I cannot wait to see what sort of growth it fosters in our campus community.
Enjoy!

Returning to Sports and School After COVID (BSAAC Mental Health Week Special)
Thursday Apr 14, 2022
Thursday Apr 14, 2022
Hi all,
Here’s episode 2 of my 3-part series with the Bowdoin Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as part of the NESCAC’s 2022 Mental Health Week. Today’s theme is Mental Health during times of uncertainty. Given the events of the last two years, I wanted to focus on this in the framing of COVID and its impact on the College lifestyle.
To discuss the student athlete experience through this time while also being able to explain the college’s decisions, I invited our Athletic Director, Tim Ryan into the studio. We talked about everything from the college’s COVID response to his own vision for how discussions of mental health can strengthen both our athletic and overall student experience here at Bowdoin. By this campus pulling together, we can leave this time behind us and focus on the possibilities for growth moving forward.
A huge thank you to the BSAAC for involving me in the discussions of this week, be sure to check out all of the great programming they have put together.
Enjoy!

Combining Mental and Physical Wellness (BSAAC Mental Health Week Special)
Tuesday Apr 12, 2022
Tuesday Apr 12, 2022
Hey Everybody,
This episode comes as the first of a 3-part series with the Bowdoin Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as part of the NESCAC’s 2022 Mental Health Week. Each day of this mental health week has a specific theme or idea associated with a different realm of growth. Today’s is tying together Mental and Physical Wellness.
To discuss the way these two realms of personal health are more connected than is commonly acknowledged, I invited Bowdoin’s Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, Neil Willey.
A huge thank you to the BSAAC for involving me in the discussions of this week, be sure to check out all of the great programming they have put together.
Enjoy!

College Reconsidered: A Thoughtful Balancing Act
Friday Apr 01, 2022
Friday Apr 01, 2022
Hey Everybody,
I hope you all had a phenomenal Spring Break. Finally made it to episode 10. This week I had on a buddy of mine, Franny Rose, to discuss the process and outcome of his quarantine reflections. Together, we consider the struggle of balancing authenticity and social fulfilment, growth and youth in the landscape of today's college social scene. Hang around to the end for a few of our favorite book recommendations for sticking to a growth-related mindset.
Enjoy!
Interview is from two weeks ago.

We’re All a Little Messed Up
Wednesday Mar 09, 2022
Wednesday Mar 09, 2022
Hey Everyone, TTIHETMT is back!
It’s been a while and naturally, I have some thoughts and an explanation on that. Today, I will be sharing an interview I conducted about 3 weeks ago with my friend David Puzzo. We'll talk about self discovery, self acceptance, how to view your emotional states as the sin(x) wave, and more importantly how to ride them out as opposed to turning to bad habits.
I hope you enjoy!

Relationsh*t: The Valentine’s Day Special
Monday Feb 14, 2022
Monday Feb 14, 2022
Hey Everyone,
Happy Valentine's Day! In the spirit of the holiday I had on my close friend from high school, Quinn, to discuss our stories of mental health as they pertain to relationships, along with all of the mistakes that we have made along the way. More mistakes means more lessons to have learned so hopefully we made some good points in there. From happiness to heartache and everywhere in between, we could all afford to grow a little, so why don't you come along for the ride!
Enjoy!
